    El artículo examina la postura del Partido Comunista de Chile respecto al papel de la violencia y el factor militar durante los años que desplegó la política de rebelión popular de masas. Acudiendo a publicaciones partidarias, interpretamos que el análisis y la teoría en torno a estas dos materias experimentaron cambios derivados del escenario político nacional, tensionándose entre posturas moderadas y más radicales, ya que a partir de la lucha contra la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet se apuntaba a recuperar la democracia, pero sin dejar de aspirar a un régimen más avanzado o socialista.

    This article examines the position of the Communist Party of Chile with respect to the role of violence, and the power of the military, in the years of the politics of popular rebellion. By examining party publications, it is clear that the analysis and theory around these two topics underwent changes. The transformation of the national political scene led to an increasingly strained relationship between moderates and radicals. On the one hand, the overall aim of the struggle against the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet was to restore democracy; on the other hand, some worked to implement a more advanced and socialist regime.
