The evolution of techniques of assisted reproduction causes ethical discussions, social and legal changes. Law, as science, is responsible for regulating new and modified social relations, especially when a constitutional issue is involved. The main subject of the paper is to analyze the legal limits of the genetic manipulations of a child. The objective of the study is to elucidate the legal problems related to human assisted reproduction, notably the genetic selection and manipulation, in order to recognize its limits. A evolução das técnicas de reprodução assistida provoca discussões éticas e mudanças sociais e jurídicas relevantes. O direito, como ciência, possui a responsabilidade de regular as relações sociais na medida em que surgem ou modificam-se, especialmente quando a questão envolve princípios constitucionais. A problemática principal do presente artigo é analisar quais são os limites legais na geração de um filho geneticamente escolhido ou manipulado. O trabalho tem como escopo elucidar os principais problemas legais relacionados à reprodução humana assistida, especialmente em relação à seleção e à manipulação genética, para reconhecer os limites que devem ser a ela aplicados. O método de abordagem utilizado foi o dedutivo e a pesquisa tem caráter qualitativo
