Nel periodo tra la fine del Cinquecento e il primo Seicento la produzione epica conosce una svolta importante. Gli eventi della storia moderna favoriscono la nascita di una nuova categoria di poemi epici incentrata su fatti storici contemporanei, ponendo gli autori di fronte a vari dilemmi, sia a livello di contenuto che stilistico. Il saggio analizza l’interazione tra gli elementi topici ed elementi innovativi presenti nei poemi Il Conquisto di Granata di Girolamo Graziani e La Austríada di Juan Rufo – testi che trattano gli avvenimenti relativi alla guerra tra le civilizzazioni cristiana e moresca e che sono esemplari di questo periodo cruciale nel processo dell’evoluzione del genere epico.
In the period between the end of the Cinquecento and the first part of the Seicento, the epic genre reaches an important turning point. The events of modern history favour the emergence of the new category of epic poetry dedicated to contemporary historical facts, putting the poets in front of various dilemmas, either at the level of content, or the one of style. The essay analyses the interaction of topical and innovative elements in the poems Il Conquisto di Granata by Girolamo Graziani and La Austríada by Juan Rufo – texts that treat the events of the war between the Christian and the Moorish civilisations and that can be considered exemplary as far as the crucial period in the process of the epic genre evolution is concerned.
