According to some sources, in a number of cases, prices have risen by 15-20%, depending on previous levels. Silicon carbide European refractory grade, abrasive green silicon carbide prices rise Martim Facada Production shutdowns in China, as well as higher costs to produce abrasive green silicon carbide and refractory-grade material, have created supply tightness and raised the prices in markets across Europe. The latest price move continued a downtrend that has been seen across the global chromite market since late last year, with new producers entering the fray attracted by high prices, and gradually tipping the market into what many participants today describe as oversupply.This, coupled with a slowdown in demand following a strong first half of 2018 in terms of trade flows, brought about a market turnaround which started at the beginning of the year
