Cervantes´ Don Quijote adaptations for children and young readers are published in Serbia since 1882. Since that moment, multiple versions have been published, mainly translated from French, German and Russian (one). A significant number of these books were issued during the thirties of the XX century (for reasons we will explain) and continue to be published after 1945, most frequently with different graphic material. We present these adaptations in detail, analyzing their impact on cultural and literary life in Serbia and stressing out the necessity of new Quijotitos, in harmony with the XXI century.
