    El drama líric Retorn, de l'escriptor Miquel Roger Crosa i el compositor Josep Sancho Marraco, es va estrenar el dia 6 de gener de 1922 al Teatre Carmen de Palamós. Estigué escenificat per membres de l'Orfeó Aucellada, entitat fundada l'any 1913 que mantenia una gran activitat associativa tot organitzant concerts estables anuals i participant en els aplecs comarcals de la Germanor d'Orfeons de Catalunya.

    Miquel Roger en va ser un dels membres fundadors i hi ocupava el càrrec de mestre director. També va ser el creador de la revista local Marinada i promotor dels Jocs Florals del 1914. Durant aquest període mantingué una gran relació epistolar amb el compositor Josep Sancho Marraco que reflecteix la seva amistat i complicitat per a tirar endavant el projecte que acabaria fructificant amb la creació de l'obra de teatre líric Retorn.

    S'escenificà a Palamós en dues ocasions, després una vegada al Teatre Principal d'Olot i, finalment, alguns cops al Teatre Tívoli de Barcelona. La representació de Retorn fou de les últimes activitats, amb gran reconeixement popular, de totes les que realitzà aquesta agrupació de cantaires, ja que a partir del 1923 l'activitat orfeònica minvà. Aquesta representació es convertí en el referent d'una època, d'una gent i d'una vila que, en l'inexorable pas del temps, es recordava amb nostàlgia; fins avui, que n'analitzem els fets que en propiciaren la creació, la producció i la recepció.

    The lyrical drama Retorn, by the writer Miquel Roger Crosa and the composer Josep Sancho Marraco, premiered on 6 January 1922 at the Carmen Theatre in Palamós. It was staged by members of the Aucellada Choral Society, an entity which was founded in 1913 and which carried out an intense associative activity, holding stable annual concerts and taking part in the regional gatherings of the Brotherhood of Choral Societies of Catalonia.

    Miquel Roger was one of the founding members of the choral society and he was its master director. He was also the creator of the local journal Marinada and a promoter of the Jocs Florals poetry competition of 1914. During this period he maintained a close epistolary relationship with the composer Josep Sancho Marraco, which bears witness to their friendship and to their will to cooperate in undertaking the project which led to the creation of the lyrical theatre work Retorn.

    It was staged in Palamós on two occasions, subsequently once at the Principal Theatre in Olot and, lastly, a few times at the Tívoli Theatre in Barcelona. The performance of Retorn was one of the last (and highly acclaimed) activities carried out by this group of singers, since the activity of the choral society diminished after 1923. This production became the symbol of a period, of a people and of a town, and it came to be fondly remembered over the course time. Now we analyse the aspects that favoured its creation, production and reception.
