In this text I present the basic theories dealing with the relationship between music and emotion. As an introduction, I raise a series of fundamental previous issues that are not usually taken into account when addressing the issue, to show that, in many cases, the analyses are biased because they do not take into account basic suppositions. Then I show some strengths and weaknesses of the theories of expression, arousal and resemblance. Finally, I make some brief comments in order to recover an analogical approach to the question.
