Resumen de On managing and visualizing the semantic web: using queries for identifying and labeling the metastructures of RDF data

Ossi Nykänen

  • As the number of the applications for the Web grows, the need for methods for organizing and filtering information becomes more evident. In this article, we define and demonstrate an approach for establishing metastructures for the Semantic Web. In brief, we outline the basic motivation and the simple definitions of resource query, spanning Resource Description Framework (RDF) subgraph, RDF substream, RDF subgraph signature, and RDF substream signature. These establish the basic concepts required for partiotioning and identifying (perhaps evolving) RDF data in an economic fashion. In addition, we demonstrate their usage in two prototyping applications. The first application is about generating Lifestream-like RDF substreams for visualization purposes. The second application establishes a method for dynamically identifying and retrieving learning and validation data sets for machine learning algorithms from the Web. Finally, we consider the reliability issues of the Semantic Web, and evaluate the role of metastructures in information management.
