ABSTRACT The use of Impact Weight on Quality of Life - Lite (IWQoL-Lite) for the assessment of quality of life of obese people in BrazilObesity is a chronic illness of multifactorial etiology and has been reaching alarming proportions, so that it has been regarded as an epidemic. The interest in analyzing how obesity impacts the quality of life of the population has been increasing, so that several studies and assessment instruments have been developed. In this context, the goal of the present article is to analyze through a bibliographical study the Impact Weight on Quality of Life – Lite (IQWoL-Lite) in studies conducted in Brazil. Researches in digital databases were carried out using the keywords “IWQoL”, “IWQoL-Lite”, “cirurgia bariátrica“ (bariatric surgery) and “qualidade de vida” (quality of life). 14 studies were retrieved from the search using all these keywords. In general, other variables in association with quality of life were analyzed. It can be concluded that IWQoL-Lite is a valid and sensible instrument to assess the quality of life of obese people, whether submitted to bariatric surgery or not, before or after it, and that quality of life follows is inversely proportional to the obesity degree.
