En México, las resistencias y las movilizaciones indígenas actuales son diversas, y no parecen constituir una identidad colectiva única como en décadas recientes, sino todo un desagregado múltiple. Como se intenta explorar en este escrito, cuatro parecen ser las principales causas. En primer lugar, la diversidad de situaciones que viven los pueblos indígenas por razones históricas. En segundo, la carga de agravios y desafíos nuevos y variados que el recrudecimiento agresivo de las incursiones extractivas capitalistas está imponiendo en sus ámbitos territoriales. En tercero, la indiferencia y desdén con que el gobierno responde a sus exigencias sociales, económicas, educativas y políticas. Por último, al intento de promoción de distintas iniciativas propias que los actores introducen en el conjunto de las luchas mismas con el propósito de romper y trascender, con mucha creatividad, el estado de cosas que oprimen y marginan a los pueblos originarios en su conjunto.

In today’s Mexico, the resistance and mobilization of Indigenous people are diverse and no longer seem to constitute a single collective identity, as they did in recent decades, but rather a multiple and fragmented whole. As this article tries to show, there are four main causes behind this situation. The first is the diversity of conditions in which, for historical reasons, Indigenous people live. The second is the accumulation of grievances and challenges, both new and variegated, that the aggressive recurrence of extractive capitalist ventures is creating in their territories. The third cause is the government’s indifference and neglect toward their social, economic, educational and political demands. And the fourth is the variety of initiatives that Indigenous peoples themselves introduce in their struggles to break and transcend, with much creativity, the status quo that oppresses and marginalizes all of them.
