    A lo largo de los años, el consumo de sustancias psicoactivas ha sufrido un proceso evolutivo acorde con los tiempos, las creencias, las culturas, las religiones, situación que también ha cambiado en cuanto a  los usuarios, las vías de uso, el tipo de sustancias consumidas y la percepción social del fenómeno. En los dos últimos siglos, el hombre ha pasado de sólo recolectar las plantas silvestres a obtener, estudiar y  usar sus principios activos, purificarlos, modificarlos y aumentar sus efectos, generándose el fenómeno de drogodependencia.

    Over the years, the consumption of psychoactive substances has undergone an evolutionary process in accordance with times, beliefs, cultures, religions, a situation that has also changed in terms of users, ways of use, type of substances consumed and the social perception of the phenomenon. In the last  two centuries, man has gone from just collecting wild plants to obtain, study and use their active  ngredients, purify them, modify them and increase their effects, generating the phenomenon of drug  addiction.
