En este artículo se busca esclarecer la espacialidad del inframundo a partir de las descripciones mostradas durante la catábasis realizada por Eneas. Siguiendo la misma línea, se analiza el viaje por el inframundo a partir de la premisa de que elmundo de los muertos puntualizado por Virgilio es casi tan diverso como el mundo de los vivos, pues reproduce con mucha precisión sus límites, sus jerarquías y sus distintos ambientes, lo cual torna aún más significativo el descensus, pues se trata no solo de una muerte simbólica mediante la cual el héroe se vuelve dominador de los dos mundos (vivos y muertos), sino en un recorrido didáctico moralizante que presenta una serie de castigos a comportamientos que no eran compatibles con las mores maiorum promulgadas con Augusto.

In this article we seek to clarify the spatiality of the underworld from the descriptions shown during the katabasis performed by Aeneas. Following the same line, the journey through the underworld is analyzed starting from the premise that the world of the dead pointed out by Virgilio is almost as diverse as the world of the living, because it reproduces very precisely its limits, its hierarchies and its different environments, which makes even more significant the descent, because it is a symbolic death through which the hero becomes dominant of the two worlds (living and dead), but in a didactic moralizing journey that presents a series of punishments to behaviors that were not compatible with the mores maiorum promulgated by Augustus.
