La realidad humana, desde la perspectiva de la filosofía primera de Xavier Zubiri, es una sustantividad estructurada en su constitución filosófica por un subsistema de notas que conforman el cuerpo, y un subsistema de notas que conforman la psique o el espíritu. Estos dos subsistemas están ordenados uno respecto del otro y, desde su principio constitucional, a la unidad de la realidad humana. Explicar cuáles son los momentos radicales de esta estructura requiere llevar a cabo los siguientes rodeos conceptuales: qué es la realidad, qué es realidad humana, que es sustantividad, y cuál es la forma y el modo de esta realidad humana. La realidad humana no es primordialmente un sujeto de accidentes, sino una estructura que, en cuanto realidad, actúa desde ella misma en virtud de las notas que le constituyen. Esta estructura tiene un momento llamado personeidad, por el cual un hombre es siempre el mismo; pero tiene también el momento de la personalidad, en virtud del cual el hombre es cada vez diferente. Mientras que la personeidad nombra la realidad humana en su momento radical y estrictamente individual, el momento de la personalidad nombra el yo de la realidad humana, su hacerse presente en el mundo, en su dimensión individual, social e histórica.

Human reality, from the perspective of the first philosophy of Xavier Zubiri, is a substantivity structured in its physical constitution by a subsystem of notes that make up the body, and a subsystem of notes that make up the psyche or the spirit. These two subsystems are ordered one with respect to the other and, from their constitutional principle, to the unity of human reality. Explaining what are the radical moments of this structure requires carrying out the following conceptual detours: what is reality, what is human reality, what is substantivity, and what is the form and mode of this human reality. The human reality is not primarily a subject of accidents, but a structure that, as a reality, acts from itself by virtue of the notes that constitute it. This structure has a moment called personhood, by which a man is always the same; but it also has the moment of personality, by virtue of which man is each time different. While personhood names human reality in its radical and strictly individual moment, the moment of personality names the self of human reality, its becoming present in the world, in its individual, social and historical dimension.
