    Análisis del estado de la libertad académica a lo largo del siglo XX en distintas regiones geográficas y políticas: Europa occidental, Europa oriental, América del Norte, América Latina, Asia central y del sur, el Lejano Oriente, cuyo planteamiento central es la idea de que la libertad académica es un asunto esencial para la educación superior -sin el cual la tarea fundamental de la educación y la investigación no puede considerarse verdaderamente cumplida- y que enfrenta cambios originados por las nuevas tecnologías y la reestructuración de las universidades tradicionales, así como por fuerzas que podrían violarla al acosar a la comunidad docente.

    This article offers an analysis of the state of academic freedom throughout the twentieth century in different geographical and political areas: Western and Eastern Europe, North and Latin America, South and Central Asia, the Far East. Starting from the idea that academic freedom is an essential issue for higher education and that without it the basic task of education and research cannot be achieved, the author studies the changes that the new technologies and the restructuring of the traditional universities caused to academic freedom, warning of the forces that could outrage it by harassing the teaching community.
