    En búsqueda de pistas sobre la labor traductora de la Orden de Predicadores en Costa Rica hallamos la obra De Magistro, de Santo Tomás de Aquino, traducida por el costarricense Antonio Figueras O. P., publicada por primera vez en 1961 por la Editorial de la Universidad de Costa Rica y utilizada como libro de estudio en esa misma institución. El propósito del presente artículo es revelar una faceta de estos religiosos dominicos que ha pasado inadvertida no solo para nuestra comunidad de traductores, sino para la sociedad costarricense en general y que, sin duda, constituye un legado sumamente importante al patrimonio histórico, cultural e intelectual nacional.

    In search of traces related to the translation activity of the Order of Preachers in Costa Rica we found De Magistro, a work by Saint Thomas Aquinas, translated by the Costa Rican Antonio Figueras OP, published for the first time in 1961 by the publishing department of the University of Costa Rica and used as a study book in the same institution. The purpose of this paper is to reveal a facet of the Dominican friars that has gone unnoticed not only by our community of translators, but by the Costa Rican society in general and which, undoubtedly, represents a very significant legacy to our national historical, cultural, and intellectual heritage.
