Resumen de Oases of cool

Kat Austen

  • More than half of the world's population now lives in urban areas that are getting both bigger and hotter. With climate change set to push temperatures ever higher, finding the best way to cool cities is no longer simply a question of comfort--it is becoming a matter of life and death. A recent analysis by US campaign group the Natural Resources Defense Council estimates that extreme heat waves will kill an additional 3,300 people annually in the largest US cities by the end of this century. Here, Austen looks at new ways to do urban climate control.
