Resumen de La gestión de documentos fotográficos: un acercamiento desde la archivística

En este artículo se reflexionará sobre la viabilidad de gestionar documentos fotográficos conservados en Archivos históricos tomando como referencia la teoría y metodología archivística. Existe una cierta discrecionalidad en la gestión de este tipo de documentos, por lo menos en varias instituciones que custodian foto-grafía en México, derivado de sus características y del poco o nulo conocimiento en torno a la archivística por parte de quienes gestionan fotografía. Es recurrente que el tratamiento que se da a este tipo de documentos sea de forma individualizada con lo cual se descontextualiza la fotografía.

This article will reflect on the feasibility of managing photographic documents preserved in Historical Archives taking as reference the archival theory and methodology. There is a certain discretion in the management of this type of document, at least in several institutions that guard photography in Mexico, derived from its characteristics and the little or no knowledge about archival photography by those who manage photography. It is recurrent that the treatment given to this type of documents is in an individualized way with which the photograph is decon-textualized.
