  In this study, we sought to analyze how people with Asperger Syndrome relate to the social environment where their development takes place. We aimed at understanding how they evaluate their own social situation. Semi-structured individual interviews were carried out with three young adults who had been previously diagnosed with the syndrome and with their parents. We noticed that, when talking about socialization, both youths and their parents referred to situations at school. Instead of providing the teenagers with social and academic experiences, the school was where chasing, neglecting and misunderstandings took place. Since it is guided by medical rationality instead of educational rationality, this institution made those teenagers paths more difficult.

  No presente estudo, buscou-se examinar a relação da pessoa com Síndrome de Asperger e seu ambiente social de desenvolvimento, procurando-se compreender como ela avalia sua própria situação social. Foram realizadas entrevistas individuais semi-estruturadas com três jovens diagnosticados com a síndrome e com seus pais. Verificou-se que, ao falarem sobre a temática socialização, os jovens e seus pais remetiam-se a situações escolares. Ao invés de proporcionar aos jovens a vivência acadêmica e social, a escola foi palco de perseguições, de descasos e de desentendimentos. Regida pela racionalidade médica e não pela racionalidade educacional que lhe é própria, essa instituição tornou mais difícil o caminhar dos jovens entrevistados.
