Francisco Bayeu en la colección de dibujos académicos de la Universidad de Sevilla

    Entre los fondos artísticos que custodia la Universidad de Sevilla destaca una colección de dibujos académicos, puesta en valor por Claudio Boutelou a finales del siglo XIX, que comprende alrededor de 280 obras de los siglos XVIII y XIX procedentes de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel. Sobresalen dos estudios de cabezas, una masculina y otra de mujer, marcados con la firma de Francisco Bayeu. Estos pertenecieron en su momento al pintor sevillano Joaquín María Cortés. Existe en la colección un tercer dibujo sin firmar que atribuimos al maestro aragonés. Catalogamos estos dibujos como bocetos preparatorios para frescos que Bayeu realizó en el Palacio Real y en la Colegiata de la Granja de San Ildefonso.

    Among the artistic collections which are held by the University of Seville, there is a collection of academic drawings, put to value by Claudio Boutelou at the end of the 19th century, which includes around 280 works from the 18 th and 19 th centuries from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Saint Isabel. Two head studies stand out above the others, one male and one female, marked with the signature of Francisco Bayeu. These once belonged to the sevillian painter Joaquín María Cortés. There is a third unsigned drawing in the collection that we also attribute to the aragonese master. We catalog these drawings as preparatory sketches for the painted walls that Bayeu did in the Royal Palace and in the Collegiate Church of the Farm of San Ildefonso.
