Resumen de Note sugli italianismi del lessico architettonico militare nel Cinquecento

The article aims at providing an overview of the presence of Italianisms in the lexicon of fourteenth century military architecture. By means of a systematic study of some of the first works on the subject (both Italian and foreign), published after the innovative introduction of artillery, light is thrown on the progressive development of a new specific language, that had its roots in Italy and was to enter into the most important European languages. Apart from translations of specialist texts in Italian, many architects, after crossing the Alps, were involved in the construction of the major defence works projected in Europe: these two factors ensured a diffusion of Italian that is almost without parallel in the history of our language; this would require specific lexical analysis, that would enrich the information provided by the most important historical dictionaries and by previous studies on Italianisms.

L’articolo intende offrire una panoramica sulla presenza degli italianismi nel lessico dell’architettura militare cinquecentesca. Ricorrendo a spogli sistematici di alcuni dei primi trattati (italiani e stranieri) sull’argomento, pubblicati all’indomani della rivoluzionaria introduzione delle artiglierie, si mette in luce il progressivo sviluppo di una nuova lingua settoriale, che ha le sue radici in Italia e che penetrerà nelle maggiori lingue europee. Accanto alle traduzioni dei testi specialistici italiani, sono moltissimi gli architetti che, dopo aver attraversato le Alpi, saranno impegnati nella costruzione delle maggiori opere difensive progettate sul suolo europeo: questi due fattori hanno garantito una diffusione dell’italiano che ha pochi termini di confronto nella storia della nostra lingua, e che richiederebbe analisi lessicali mirate, in grado di ampliare le informazioni offerte dai maggiori dizionari storici e da studi antecedenti dedicati al tema degli italianismi.
