El “mestizaje” en el pensamiento de José Manuel Briceño Guerrero es la expresión de una forma decomprender las relaciones entre las culturas occidentales y no-occidentales. Esta valoración del“mestizaje” incorpora una visión de la historia diversa, en cuanto confluencia de lasmanifestaciones culturales y artísticas de los pueblos. Puesto que no se constituyen como algodeterminado, sino que sólo se dan en el devenir y la particularidad de cada región, teniendo quenegarse y afirmarse simultáneamente hasta configurar una historia que recoja su sentido,producen lenguajes heterogéneos y una estética plural desde una perspectiva dialógica, crítica ycreadora.

“Miscegenation” in the thought of José-Manuel Briceño-Guerrero is the expression of a way ofunderstanding the relations between Western and Non-Western cultures. This appreciation of“miscegenation” involves a diverse view of history, as confluence of the cultural and artisticmanifestations of the peoples. Since they do not constitute themselves as something determinate,but simply arise in the becoming and particularity of each region, having to simultaneouslynegate and assert themselves to configure a history that gathers their sense, they produceheterogeneous languages and a diverse aesthetics from a dialogical, critic and creativeperspective.
