Efecto del dimetilsulfóxido en el peso fresco de rábano y betabel

    Se asperjó dimetilsulfóxido (DMSO) en el dosel de plántulas de betabel (Beta vulgaris L. cv. Fort Giant) y rábano (Raphanus sativus L. cv. Champion) cultivadas en un invernadero, para evaluar su efecto en el peso fresco de estas plantas. Las concentraciones de DMSO aplicadas oscilaron entre 3.7×10 --2 y 3.7×10 --8 M; en el grupo testigo se colocó agua. Los resultados indicaron que el DMSO incrementó significativamente el peso fresco de ambas especies. El tubérculo de ambas aumentó de manera significativa (hasta 100% para rábano y 38% para betabel). DMSO incrementó el peso fresco del dosel hasta 100% para rábano y 47% para betabel. El contenido de clorofila y la tasa de fotosíntesis neta no fueron afectados por la aplicación de DMSO

    Dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) was sprayed on shoots of beet (Beta vulgaris L. cv. Fort Giant) and radish (Raphanus sativus L. cv. Champion) grown in a greenhouse, to determine its effect on fresh weight of these plants. Concentrations of DMSO applied ranged between 3.7×10--2 M and 3.7×10--8 M; water was applied for the control group. Results indicated that DMSO significantly increased fresh weight in both plant species. Tuber for both species increased significantly: for radish up to 100%, and for beet 38%. DMSO increased shoot weight up to 100% for radish and 47% for beet. Neither chlorophyll content nor net photosynthesis rate were affected by DMSO
