    Este ensayo pretende ofrecer una reconstrucción del papel de los animales en el sistema filosófico de Schopenhauer. Para ello el autor rastrea las raíces socio-políticas del animalismo schopenhaueriano en el contexto de la tradición del idealismo alemán tal y como este desembocaría en el ecologismo nacional-socialista. Sin embargo, el tratamiento del lugar de los animales en la filosofía de Schopenhauer, lejos de poder quedar reducido a sus afinidades sin duda centrales con el ideario nacional-socialista, entronca con las premisas ontológicas de fondo del autor de El mundo como voluntad y representación. El artículo adelanta una reinterpretación filosófica del pensamiento de Schopenhauer en relación a los animales inspirada en la ontología materialista de Gustavo Bueno y en las líneas de fondo que movilizan una historia filosófica de la filosofía ejecutada desde las coordenadas del materialismo filosófico.

    This article offers a reconstruction of the role of animals within Arthur Schopenhauer´s philosophical system. To that end, the author traces back the social and political roots of Schopenahuer´s interest for animals by placing it within the context of the tradition of German idealism which will, over time, led to the establishment of the National-Socialist version of ecological thinking. However, Schopenhauer´s philosophical treatment of animals, far from being reducible to its undoubtedly important affinities with National-Socialist ideology, draws clear connections to the ontological postulates of his philosophy. This article advances a philosophical reinterpretation of Schopenahuer´s positions in relation to animals that takes inspiration from the materialist ontological thought of Gustavo Bueno as well as a philosophically orientated historical reconstruction carried out in light of Bueno´s philosophy.
