    La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo conocer el uso de los métodos anticonceptivos por las adolescentes que acuden al centro de salud No 2 de la ciudad de Esmeraldas. El estudio fue descriptivo, cuantitativo y transversal. Los datos se recogieron a través de la aplicación de una encuesta a 125 adolescentes, en edades comprendidas de 15 a 18 años, que asistieron a la consulta de planificación familiar del centro de salud señalado.

    Se concluye que las adolescentes usan diferentes métodos anticonceptivos, teniendo un buen nivel de conocimiento en cuanto a su uso. Además, un bajo porcentaje de ellas, en los inicios de su vida sexual, asisten a la consulta de planificación familiar, para abordar el tema, previo a esta incursión. Ello trae consigo diferentes reacciones adversas, como las irregularidades en el ciclo menstrual y la cefalea.

    The objective of this research was to know the use of contraceptive methods by adolescents who attend the No 2 Health Center in the city of Esmeraldas. The study was descriptive, quantitative and transversal. The data was collected through the application of a survey to 125 adolescents, aged between 15 and 18 years, who attended the family planning consultation of the indicated health center.

    It is concluded that adolescents use different contraceptive methods, having a good level of knowledge regarding its use. In addition, a low percentage of them, at the beginning of their sexual life, attend the family planning consultation, to address the issue, prior to this incursion. This brings with it different adverse reactions, such as irregularities in the menstrual cycle and headache.
