Estudo da vinculação e da empatia em estudantes universitários

    Este estudo teve por finalidade analisar a vinculação e a empatia em estudantes universitários. A metodologia utilizada foi quantitativa e foram administrados três instrumentos de avaliação, já aferidos em investigações anteriores para a população portuguesa, e um questionário sociodemográfico. A amostra foi constituída por 183 estudantes de licenciatura, cujos estavam distribuídos por três áreas de formação, nomeadamente ciências, engenharias e tecnologias, do direito e das ciências políticas e da psicologia, da educação e do desporto. A análise estatística efetuada permitiu estabelecer correlações entre a empatia e a perceção do relacionamento com as mães, mas não com os pais. Encontramos um nível mais baixo de empatia nos estudantes que relataram uma ocorrência de doença no último ano, através do Índice de Reatividade Interpessoal, Davis - IRI, e, por outro lado, encontramos uma correlação positiva entre a vinculação segura e a auto perceção de um nível elevado de saúde física. Na vinculação insegura de tipo preocupado, os estudantes que tiveram uma doença no último ano, tinham uma correlação negativa em relação ao nível de saúde avaliado no questionário sociodemográfico. Os estudantes das áreas de psicologia, educação e desporto apresentavam valores mais elevados e estatisticamente significativos de empatia do que os estudantes da área de ciências, engenharia e tecnologias, e, para além disso, apresentavam um valor médio maior de empatia no 1º ano curricular do curso, que os estudantes do 3º ano curricular. Encontramos também correlação estatisticamente significativa entre a empatia e os diferentes tipos de vinculação insegura, segundo a tipologia de Bartholomew identificada com a Escala de Vinculação de Adultos (EVA) utilizada.

    The purpose of this study was to analyze attachment and empathy in university students. The methodology used was quantitative and three evaluation instruments, already checked in previous researches for the Portuguese population, were used, and a sociodemographic questionnaire was also administered. The sample consisted of 183 1st degree students, who were divided into three areas of training, namely engineering, technology and sciences, law and political science, and psychology, education and sport. Statistical analysis in the test of Drawing circles representatives of familiar relationships made it possible to establish correlations between empathy and the perception of the relationship in childhood with the mothers, but not with the fathers. We found a lower level of empathy and personal discomfort in students who reported a disease occurrence in the last year, through the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, Davis - IRI, and, on the other hand, we found a positive relationship between Secure attachment and the auto perception of the level of perception of a good health. In insecure attachment type preoccupied, the students that had in the last year a disease, had a negative relation with the perception of the level of health in the questionnaire. Students from the field of psychology, education and sport courses had higher and statistically significant empathy values than students in the field of science, engineering and technology, in addition,had a higher average value of empathy in the 1st year of the course, than in the 3rd year of the curriculum. We also found a statistically significant correlation between empathy and different types of insecure attachment, according to the Bartholomew typology identified in the Adult Attachment Scale (EVA) used.
