Resumen de Los “hombres chéveres”: poder y participación de los hombres en el activismo antipatriarcal

  En este artículo planteamos reflexiones en torno a la participación de los hombres en el activismo antipatriarcal a partir de la experiencia de la Red Peruana de Masculinidades (RPMpmasc) y el proceso de Investigación Acción Participativa (IAPiap) que se realizó entre los años 2016 y 2017. La participación de los hombres en el activismo antipatriarcal, es un asunto que se vuelve problemático o tenso, dado que significa una aproximación desde una posición social de poder, que genera un proceso de acumulación de prestigio a través de la imagen de “hombres igualitarios” o “chéveres”. Aunque, también puede significar tensión y cuestionamiento por parte de otros hombres, principalmente machistas, que consideran a los primeros como “poco hombres” por evidenciar una postura diferente a la “tradicional”. En este escenario, surge la necesidad de problematizar el tema y pensar sobre las prácticas y ámbitos para el activismo antipatriarcal de los hombres y la necesidad de generar prácticas que no reproduzcan relaciones de dominio, sino que más bien contribuyan a la emergencia de un movimiento social emancipatorio y trasformador.

  In this article we propose reflections regarding the participation of men in anti-patriarchal activism, based on the experience of the Peruvian Network of Masculinities (RPM asc) and the Participatory Action Research (IAP ) process which took place between 2016 and 2017. The participation of men in anti-patriarchal activism is an issue that can be problematic or tense, since men engage from a position of social power which may result in their accumulating prestige through the image of “equalitarian” or “cool” men”. This dilemna can also result in tension and mistrust with other men, especially “machistas” who might consider the former to be “not very manly” because their differing position from the “traditional” one. In this scenario, the need arises to problematize the topic and think about the practices and parameters for men’s anti-patriarchal activism; and the need to support practices that don’t reproduce relationships of domination, but instead contribute to an emancipatory and transformative social movement.
