    El presente artículo intentará dar cuenta de la evolución del turismo en Uruguay tomando como punto de partida que en el primer volumen de la Revista “Estudios y Perspectivas enTurismo” se publicaba un artículo interesante de Mónica Vasconi sobre la conceptualización del turismo desde la perspectiva de la geografía tomando como caso de estudio zonas del Departamento de Colonia (Uruguay). Transcurridos treinta años, parece oportuno analizar ¿cuáles han sido las continuidades y cuáles los cambios que se dieron en este período? Y cómo éstos han aportado al concepto de “Uruguay, país Turístico”. Por lo que, se indagará sobre la definición de políticas / acciones que implicaron comenzar a diversificar la oferta turística – centrada fuertemente en la modalidad de “sol y playa” - y cómo a partir del caso de Colonia, otras regiones se han ido incorporando lentamente y con diferente grado de desarrollo al sistema turístico uruguayo

    Tourism in Uruguay: Evolution from 1990. The present article will try to givean account of the evolution of tourism in Uruguay taking as starting point that in the first volume of the Magazine "Studies and Perspectives in Tourism" an interesting article byMonicaVasconi was published on the conceptualization of tourism from the perspective of the geography taking as a case study areas of the Department of Colonia (Uruguay). After thirty years, it seems opportune to analyze what have been the continuities and what the changes that occurred in this period? and how they have contributed to the concept of "Uruguay, a tourist country". There fore, the definition of policies / actions that involved starting to diversify thetourist offer – focused strongly on the modality of "sun and beach" - and how from the case of Colonia, other regions have been slowly incorporated and with different degree of development to the Uruguayan tourist system.
