    A lo largo del siglo XVI se asiste, en el Reino de Valencia, a una llegada masiva de inmigrantes de origen francés, lo cual desde la perspectiva de la demografía histórica, constituye un fenómeno no desdeñable por las consecuencias ya no solamente demográficas sino también económicas y culturales que supone. Son de sobra conocidas las dificultades y limitaciones que ofrecen los estudios demográficos para épocas pre-estadísticas y este trabajo tiene como fin contribuir al conocimiento de ese numeroso colectivo, exponiendo cuáles son los documentos disponibles para su análisis con especial atención a los registros sacramentales así como a los llamados llibres de avehinament o libros de vecinos. Con quién se casaban, con quién se relacionaban o cuáles eran sus oficios son algunos de los datos que podemos obtener al interrogar dichas fuentes y que sin duda pueden ayudar a aprehender mejor la sociedad valenciana del Quinientos.

    A massive arrival of French immigrants in the kingdom of Valencia occurred in the XVI century, which from the perspective of historical demography is an important factor for the economic and cultural consequences involved. The difficulties and limitations of demographical studies for pre-statistical periods are well known, and the aim of the current paper is to contribute to the knowledge of this large group by stating the documents available for analysis, with special attention to sacramental records and the llibres de avehinament or neighbourhood registers. Who they married and their relations with other people or the trades they performed are some of the data to be obtained from the aforementioned source, in order to obtain further knowledge of the Valencian society in the XVI century
