While more and more is being published on the circulation of Italian texts in the sixteenth and seventeenth century, Lorraine during the reings of Charles II and Henry II offers an interesting case, for more than one reason. Between 1596 and 1632, toul's episcopal printing press and Pont-à-Mousson's university printing press produced around fifty books by Italian authors. These are almost exclusively religious texts, which contributed to the typoraphical activity of the French kingdom and the Spanish Netherlands. A precise investigation into the chronology, contents and prefaces of these works shows important nuances in the intineraries of dissemination followed by these texts: passing through Paris, Lyon, Douai or the German Empire, before reaching Lorraine, or on the contrary leaving Lorraine in order to spread to the North and Paris. Under the influence of the Jesuits, the princes of Lorraine and bishops, Tridentine Italy represents a stable factor within the book trade before the Thirty Years' War.

Alors que les travaux sur la circulation des textes italiens aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles se multiplient, la Lorraine du temps de Charles III et d'Henri II constitue un cas intéressant à plus d'un titre. Les presses épiscopales de Toul et les presses universitaires de Pont-à-Mousson ont produit une cinquantaine de livres dont l'auteur est italien entre 1596 et 1632. Il s'agit presque exclusivement de textes religieux qui alimentent l'activité typographique dans tout le royaume de france et dans les Pays-Bas espagnols. L'examen précis de la chronologie, des textes et de leurs discours d'escorte montre des nuances importantes dans les circuits de diffusion des textes, passant par Paris, Lyon, Douai ou l'Empire avant d'arriver en Lorraine, ou au contraire partant de Lorraine pour se diffuser ensuite vers le Nord et Paris. Sous l'influence des jésuites, des princes lorrains et des évêques, l'Italie tridentine s'impose comme une valeur sûre dans le comerce du livre avant la Guerre de Trente ans.
