Resumen de Semilinguisme

  The term semilingualism is not appreciated neither by linguists nor by didacticians, but the phenomenon it designates exists. In this article, I try to clarify this notion on the basis of relevant examples and explain the history of the term and several possible forms of semilingualism. This will hopefully lead not only to a description of the phenomenon, but also to a characterization of the personal experiences of semilingual speakers.

  Le terme de semilinguisme n’est pas très estimé ni par les linguistes ni par les didacticiens. Or, le phénomène se montre bel et bien. L’article tente une approche à partir de quelques exemples pour ensuite suivre la genèse du terme et cerner les formes de semilinguisme. Une telle approche inductive espère arriver non seulement à une description mais aussi au vécu des semilingues.
