The work sought to place at the centre of the studies the experience of children who temporarily reside in institutions specialized in hosting. The objective was to reach notions of child and family, notions of life and care, contact with children and adolescents hosted in social protection institutions. It was also in the interest of the work to invest in deepening the ethnographic practice and listening to narratives with children. Among the threads that surround the debate are the anthropological studies about children and the specialized practices that underpin the services of attention to children, adolescents and families, in the field of health and social care in Brazil. It is a field that consists of ethnographic contexts from which networks and intersections of practices, mediations and connections are articulated, that can not be restricted to the idea of a spatial delimitation, since they form malleable and transient circuits.

O trabalho procurou colocar no centro dos estudos a experiência de crianças que residem temporariamente em instituições especializadas em acolher. Objetivou-se alcançar noções de criança e família, noções de vida e de cuidado, no contato com crianças e adolescentes acolhidos em instituições de proteção social. Também foi de interesse do trabalho, investir no aprofundamento da prática etnográfica e da escuta de narrativas com crianças. Entre os fios que tecem o debate estão os estudos antropológicos sobre crianças e as práticas especializadas que fundamentam os serviços de atenção à crianças, adolescentes e famílias, no campo da saúde e da assistência social, no Brasil. Trata-se de um campo que se constitui de contextos etnográficos, a partir dos quais se articulam redes e cruzamentos de práticas, mediações, conexões que não podem ser restringidas a ideia de uma delimitação espacial, posto que formam circuitos maleáveis e transitórios.
