  Este artículo se propone hacer una lectura de la narrativa de mujeres chilenas de la primera mitad del siglo XX en relación con la profesionalización de la escritura, a partir de las representaciones que las autoras construyen en sus relatos en tanto 'escritoras aficionadas'. Junto con distinguirse de una tradición masculina buscan asimismo denunciar las dificultades laborales y educativas de su formación, al haberse relegado el problema de la mujer de la agenda política, más orientada en alcanzar transformaciones sociales y de clase. A través del análisis de algunas novelas publicadas entre los años treinta y sesenta del siglo, buscamos abordar el discurso que las autoras articularon en torno a la profesión, el trabajo y la escritura, desde sus condicionantes de género y clase

  This article intends to provide a reading of the narratives of Chilean women from the first half of the 20thcentury, as they speak to and of the professionalization of writing. The focus is on the representations that these authors construct in their narratives as 'amateur writers'. Along with differentiating their work from a male tradition, these authors also seek to denounce the work and educational difficulties in their own training derived from leaving women’s issues out of the political agenda to focus instead on achieving social and class transformations. By analyzing a few novels published between the 1930s and 1960s, this study aims to unveil the gender- and class-based discourse articulated by these female writers regarding the writing profession and writing itself
