L’article pretén reflexionar sobre els límits si més no cronològics de la nostra matèria, plantejant si es pot seguir justificant a hores d’ara l’origen del «món actual» a l’any 1945. L’assaig divideix aquesta reflexió en quatre apartats que comprenen des d’unes consideracions prèvies sobre les meves motivacions fins a la consciència del segle per la seva periodització, els principals eixos explicatius del segle xx i unes consideracions complementàries que subratllen la importància dels fets.

This essay explores the chronological boundaries of the subject matter, asking whether it is still justifiable to date the origin of “today’s world” to the year 1945. The text is divided into four sections that range from some preliminary considerations of the essay’s underlying motivations to an understanding of the century based on its periodization. They also examine the main explanatory axes of the twentieth century and offer some additional considerations that underscore the importance of events.
