Resumen de El sabotaje de Coaling Island y la red del Abwehr II en el Campo de Gibraltar

En una comunicación anterior se pudo documentar la trama del sabotaje al Ragged Staff de Gibraltar en 1943 por la que Luis López Cordón-Cuenca fue condenado a muerte. Ahora es también posible reconstruir al detalle la trama en la que se movía el segundo de los condenados a muerte en la colonia durante la II Guerra Mundial. Ello ha sido posible gracias a que, en el año 2009, entre la documentación desclasificada por los archivos británicos se encontraba el expediente del linense José Martín Muñoz. Ésta constituye la principal aportación del trabajo, tratándose de una fuente no incorporada aún a la historiografía sobre el tema.
Gracias a ella es posible ilustrar su hasta hoy desconocida historia personal, la forma en que fue captado, sus condiciones de vida, la estructura de la red en la que trabajaba o las acciones que le llevaron al patíbulo. La importancia para la historiografía radica en que, a través de su figura, se vislumbra el sistema de funcionamiento de los servicios de inteligencia del Eje en el Campo de Gibraltar, el modus operandi de los mismos o el grado de implicación de las autoridades españolas, así como también la actuación de la contrainteligencia británica. Al estar levantada sobre una documentación hasta hace poco vedada a los investigadores, a nuestro criterio, la reconstrucción del caso de José Martín Muñoz, a la que se dedica la comunicación, constituye una aportación completamente novedosa a la historia de la actuación de los servicios de inteligencia en la zona durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial

In a previous work it was possible to document the plot of the sabotage against Gibraltar Ragged Staff for wich Luis López Cordon Cuenca was condemned to death. Now is also possible to reconstruct the plot in which another spanish man was sentenced to death in the colony during the Second World War.
It has been possible because, in the year 2009, the file of José Martín Muñoz was between the records declasified by the British Authorities. This is the main contribution of this work, as it is a source never incorporated before into the historiography about the matter.
This way it is possible to illustrate his, till today, unknown personal biography, the way in which he was, his political feelings, his living conditions, the structure of the network at wich he was employed or the actions that finally took him to the scaffold.
The importance for the historiography is that, by this case, we can know how the Axis intelligence service in the Camp worked at those years, its modus operandi, or the level of Spanish authorities implication, as well as the action of the British counter-intelligence service in Gibraltar.
Being based on documents till not long ago forbidden to the researchers, the reconstruction of the case of José Martín Muñoz is a completely novel contribution to the history of the intelligence services action in this area during the Second World War.
