L’émancipation, enjeu commun à la communication scientifique et à la communication politique

    Political and scientific communication are two distinct registers. However, and despite what a Weberian analysis would suggest, they are not opposed to one another. When researchers intervene in the public sphere in order to show how research – whether it be their own or from their field – can shed light on issues of general concern such as climate change, they engage in a form of public science in which scientific and political communication converge in a single objective : to preserve our democracies through the search for individual and collective emancipation. This does not involve “manufacturing consent” ; instead, it constructs productive dissent.

    La communication politique et la communication scientifique sont deux registres différents. Par contre, les deux ne sont pas, contrairement à une analyse d’inspiration webérienne, opposées. En effet, lorsque le chercheur intervient dans l’espace public pour éclairer, à partir de ses travaux et ceux de sa discipline, une question d’intérêt général comme le changement climatique, il s’inscrit dans une science publique où se rejoignent communication scientifique et communication politique dans un même objectif : préserver nos sociétés démocratiques en cherchant l’émancipation individuelle et collective. Il ne s’agit donc pas de fabriquer du consentement, mais au contraire de construire des désaccords féconds.
