    El desarrollo humano debería ser la principal responsabilidad social de las Instituciones de Educación Superior en Iberoamérica. Este artículo aporta una revisión de discursos desde diferentes organismos internacionales sobre lo esperado de la formación. Se apunta a una serie de tendencias que marcan la transición hacia un cambio trascendental en la denominada cuarta revolución industrial, caracterizada por la irrupción en todos los ámbitos de internet, al tiempo que se contrasta con realidades latentes en Iberoamérica en las cuales queda mucho camino por recorrer para reducir la inequidad. En contraste con los augurios que anuncia la inmersión digital y la exclusión de quien no se adapte, este artículo realiza una serie de propuestas para las Instituciones de Educación Superior ante los retos que se presentan a fin de situar el humanismo como la inspiración transversal a las misiones académicas de docencia e investigación, siendo así referentes sociales y punto de partida de una revolución industrial humanizada.

    Human development should be the main social responsibility of Higher Education Institutions in Latin America. This article provides a review of speeches from different international organizations about what should be expected of education. It points to a series of tendencies that mark the transition towards a transcendental change in the denominated fourth industrial revolution, characterized by the irruption in all the areas of Internet, at the same time that it is contrasted with latent realities in Latin America in which much work is pending in social equity. In contrast to the auguries announced by digital immersion and the exclusion of those who do not adapt, this article makes a series of proposals for Higher Education Institutions facing the challenges presented in order to place humanism as the crosscutting inspiration Academic missions of teaching and research, thus being social referents and starting point of a humanized industrial revolution.
