Resumen de Cultura institucional e identidad docente: Su emergencia a través de las representaciones sociales

  Pocas veces en la historia, el oficio docente enfrentó tantos cambios como los acontecidos en las últimas décadas. La finalidad del escrito que se presenta a continuación es analizar algunos aspectos relativos a la identidad docente, como clave para propiciar las transformaciones educativas que se requieren actualmente. Para ello, se sostiene que la cultura institucional y las representaciones sociales que se construyen en el interior de la institución deben reconocerse e indagarse como paso ineludible si se pretende un cambio en las instituciones de educación superior.

  La primera parte de este ensayo versa sobre la universidad como referente educativo y sintetiza sus transformaciones. Luego, se profundiza en la cultura institucional como eje alrededor del cual se constituyen la identidad docente y las prácticas educativas cotidianas. Por último, se plantea que el estudio de las representaciones sociales de los profesores sobre la docencia en la universidad posibilita encontrar rasgos que aportan a la especificidad del campo profesional.

  Rarely in history has the teaching profession faced as many changes as in the last decades. The purpose of this paper is to analyze some aspects related to teaching identity as a key to promote the educational transformations that are currently required. To this end, it is argued that the institutional culture and social representations built within the institution should be acknowledged and inquired as an unavoidable step if a change in higher education institutions is intended.

  The first part of this essay is about the university as an educational reference and it summarizes its transformations. Then it delves into the institutional culture as the axis around which the teaching identity and everyday educational practices are constituted. Finally, it is proposed that the study of the teachers' social representations on teaching in the university makes it possible to find traits that contribute to the specificity of the professional field.
