  • In this paper, a brief review of the academic history of the University of Salamanca is made on the occasion of its eighth centenary, emphasizing its contributions to philosophy and to the history of ideas, and to the true contributions made by the Salamanca thinkers to Western culture in several prominent areas, from law to economics, arguing that the most important intellectual period of the University of Salamanca, during the Renaissance, is based mainly on the humanist spirit of its thinkers
