    la Sierra de la Demanda a través de una revisión y síntesis de la documentación publicada, junto con nuevas aportaciones fruto de un trabajo de campo, que ha permitido completar el conocimiento de su actividad histórica y llegar a las localizaciones donde antiguas referencias señalaban la existencia de ferrerías, y constatarla conservación de alguno de sus restos. En el último tercio del siglo XV, el Duque de Frías y Condestable de Castilla construye las primeras ferrerías hidráulicas de las que tenemos constancia en el valle del río Pedroso.Tras diversos periodos de inactividad, vuelven a cobrar un nuevo impulso en el último cuarto del siglo XVIIIpara abandonarse en las postrimerías de este siglo, y aparecer como de nueva construcción en el último tercio del siglo XIX, momento en el que adquieren un renovado desarrollo tras la incorporación de la tecnología delhorno alto; hasta su definitivo cierre en la primera mitad del siglo XX.

    An overview about iron work in hydraulic foundries in the Burgos area of the Sierra de la Demanda is presentedthrough a review and synthesis of the published documentation, in addiction to new contributions as a resultof fieldwork, that has allowed to complete the knowledge of its historical activity and reach the locationswhere ancient references pointed to the existence of foundries, and verify the conservation of some of its re-mains. In the last third of the 15th century, the Duque de Frías and Condestable de Castilla built the firsthydraulic foundries of which we have evidence in the Pedroso river valley. After several periods of inactivity,they regain new boost in the last quarter of the 18th century, to be abandoned at the end of it, and appear asnewly constructed in the last third of the 19th century, at which time they acquire a renewed developmentafter the incorporation of the technology of the blast furnace; until its definitive closure in the first half ofthe 20th century.
