L’article recull les principals fonts documentals conegudes fins aquest moment (les actes del plenari municipal, la premsa i el dietari de la biblioteca) que permeten conèixer la successió d’esdeveniments que van seguir a la proclamació de la República a Figueres. El text esbossa el context polític i social que vivia la ciutat en aquell moment i les conseqüències que va suposar la fi de la Dictadura de Primo de Rivera i la instauració d’un nou sistema polític. S’assenyalen els trets més definitoris dels principals actors polítics, la victòria de la candidatura d’ERC en els resultats obtinguts durant les eleccions del 12 d’abril de 1931 i el paper que va jugar a la ciutat a partir d’aquell moment

The article presents the main documentary sources known today (minutes of municipa lcouncil meetings , press and the diary of the library) which allow to know the succession of events following the proclamation of the Republic in Figueres . It also out lines the political and social context in the town at that moment and the consequences of the end of the Primo de Rivera dictatorship and of the establishment of a new political system. The most defining features of the main political actors are pointed out, as well as the the victory of the ERC (Catalan Republican Left)can didature with the results it obtained in the election of April 12, 1931, and the role it played in the town from then on
