  • Resumen
    • Anthropogenic changes include industrial metals useful as global markers. The presence of some of these metals in the sedimentsof coastal systems could provide useful information to identify the "Anthropocene". The objective is to find out if this is possible for the Galician rias. A bibliographic search provides 22 scientific articles, half of which correspond to dated cores. All of them has been published in this century and they cover 12 of the 18 Galician rias; the biogeochemical disturbance resulting from human activity is recorded in the sediment. The coastal influence of the anthroposphere is recorded in the Galician ria sediments where contamination by Cu, Pb and Zn reveals as a valuable complement to recognize the presence of the "Anthropocene" in estuaries.
