  • Beckett's work-not so much its author-is bilingual: whatever its language, it feels written in it. The choice of such a strategy, grown more conscious over time, was set by reflections upon the misuse of language and languages which go beyond the normal literary sensitivity to the relationship between languages and literature: a choice of the best tactic for divergence.
