Sedimentary rocks of the Lower Cretaceous in the Median Subbetic in the Alamedilla area (province of Granada) belonging to the Carretero Fm. are studied. In this area point out the importance of the redeposited sediments mainly composed by oolitic limestones and volcanic rocks of Jurassic age, and also by the own Neocomian hemipelagic sedimentary rocks (marly limestones and marls).
A ll these redeposited sediments with a fundamentally debris flow origin were due to the significant slopes in a very irregular submarine topography linked to the vu lean ism and the resultant volcanic edifices. This magmatism, although was mainly of Middle Jurassic age, locally standed in these areas until the Upper Jurassic and controlled during most of the Mesozoic the sedimentation in this area of the Subbetic basin.
