Resumen de Arte y poder: el arte como instrumento semiótico de perpetuación del poder

El arte es un espejo cultural de las distintas sociedades en las que nace y se desarrolla; de este modo, cada manifestación artística refleja el lugar y el momento histórico en el cual se ha erigido. Ahora bien, si sólo son visibilizadas y publicitadas las expresiones artísticas de ciertos grupos sociales (ostentadores de un similar capital socioeconómico y cultural), implícitamente se está mermando y devaluando la posibilidad creativa de las otras comunidades y culturas, restringiéndose con ello su expresión simbólico-identitaria. De este modo, estos otros grupos sociales estarían siendo invisibilizados, tanto artística como semióticamente, frente a la representación simbólica de otros con más poder. Ante esta realidad, y a modo de resistencia, han surgido en el transcurso de la historia moderna distintos grupos de artistas que, con objeto de revalorizar la cultura popular y oprimida, se han situado en la berma opuesta del arte oficial y hegemónico, apelando desde aquella vereda a la resignificación de los oprimidos, mediante su visibilización y la organización comunitaria.

The Art is a cultural reflection of every society where it was born and developed, thus every art expression projects the place and the historical period where It was created. Anyway, if just the artistic expressions of certain social groups are showed and advertised (that hold a similar socio-economic and cultural capital) It is implicitly devaluating and damaging the creativity and expression possibility of the other communities and cultures, ergo symbolic identity of other co-existing subcultures. Thus, these “other social groups” that hold majority despite being less social power are invisible semiotically, artistically and symbolically against the others who has more social power. Given this reality and as a form of resistance, there have been emerging in the course of modern history various groups of artists in order to revalue the popular and oppressed culture, stood at the opposite sidewalk of the “official and hegemonic art” asking from that path for redignification of oppressed people through their visibility and community organization.
