Derecho azteca: Causas civiles y criminales en los tribunales del Valle de México

    A través de la historia las sociedades han regulado su actuación mediante reglas permanentes, de esta manera nace el derecho, pues el hombre decide agruparse en forma ordenada y regir su convivencia. Entre los aztecas, los patrones sociales y su cosmovisión guiaron las leyes y las sentencias de los jueces; la aplicación invariable y rigurosa de estas reglas propició entre los miembros de la sociedad el respeto incondicional a las instituciones jurídicas y temor a una sanción ejemplar. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo describir en forma general las contiendas civiles y criminales de esta civilización, con base en documentos prehispánicos y estudios especializados. La civilización azteca alcanzó un grado de desarrollo elevado en comparación con otros pueblos de Mesoamérica, su derecho es reflejo de tales alcances, pues se caracterizó por ser riguroso, expedito y con miras a alcanzar la justicia en aras del bienestar de la comunidad.

    Through history the societies have regulated their action by means of permanent rules, this way the right is born, because the man decides to group in form ordinate and to govern his coexistence. Between the Aztecs, the social landlords and their cosmovision guided the laws and the sentences of the judges; the invariable and rigorous application of these rules caused between the members of the society the unconditional respect to the legal institutions and fear to an exemplary sanction. The present study must as objective describe in general form the civil and criminal fights of this civilization, with base in pre-Hispanic documents and specialized studies. The Aztec civilization reached a degree of development elevated in comparison with other towns of Mesoamérica, its right is reflected of such reaches, because it was characterized for being rigorous, expeditious and with a view to reaching justice for the sake of the well-being of the community.
