El obrador del platero Vicente Perate fue uno de los más activos en Madrid durante el primer tercio del siglo XIX. Al tiempo que realizaba multitud de piezas, participaba asiduamente en las actividades del Colegio de Plateros, donde llegó a ocupar numerosos cargos. Asimismo, gozó de gran éxito profesional, como lo demuestra el casi medio centenar de piezas que se ha conservado, de gran calidad artística y variedad de tipos; y el hecho de haber ocupado los primeros puestos en las listas de contribución de los artífices madrileños del momento.

The silversmith’s workroom of Vicente Perate was one of the most actives in the city of Madrid during the first third of the 19th century. While executing numerous pieces, he regularly participated at the activities organized by the Silversmith College, where he also held many different posts. Likewise, he enjoyed great professional success as is shown by the almost half a hundred conserved workpieces of huge artistic quality and wide variety of type, as well as by the fact that he had topped the contribution’s list of the Madrilenian craftsmen from that period.
