  • Resumen
    • The philosophical anthropology developed in the first half of the 20th century has focused in particular on the question of the relationship between man and the environment, underlining the specific human modality of living in the world. Living repre- sents an anthropological structure which refers not only to human technical capacity but above all to man’s incarnate existence and the need for roots and relationships, which finds a unique expres- sion in the category of home. Multiple knowledges come face to face on this issue: environmental psychology, architecture, and sociology, to mention just a few. The article analyzes the function and new critical problems of space-home and of related urban planning within the development and expression of personal and relational identity, as well as within the promotion of a sustainable lifestyle. Given the direct interrelation between domestic space, urban spaces and human behavior, quality of living directly con- cerns bioethics as an area of “human ecology” that is inseparable from reflections on the meanings of behavior and on the catego- ries of identity and quality of life that imply a common ethos.
