    El principal objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la poesía elegíaca de José Ángel Valente. Este artículo no pretende realizar un registro exhaustivo de todos los textos que abordan esta temática. Su propósito es más humilde: mostrar algunos ejemplos paradigmáticos, situarlos en su contexto y reflexionar sobre las motivaciones vitales y literarias que provocaron estas composiciones. Más allá del prestigio literario del tema¸ el dolor por la muerte de los seres queridos motivó que Valente compusiese algunos fragmentos que, leídos en su conjunto, constituyen una de las elegías más hermosas y conmovedoras de la literatura en lengua española.

    The main object of this article is to analyze the elegiacal poetry by José Ángel Valente. This article will not try to carry out an exhaustive record of all the texts that deal with this topic, but aims, more humbly, to show some paradigmatic examples, situate them in their context and reflect on the most significant literary motivations that caused these compositions. More than the literary prestige of the topic, the pain caused by the deaths of loved ones motivated Valente to compose certain fragments that, when read together, make up one of the most beautiful and poignant elegies of all the literature written in Spanish.
