    Este artículo aborda la trayectoria de la Revolución Bolivariana de Hugo Chávez desde sus orígenes a principios de los años 80, hasta el fallecimiento del líder en marzo de 2013. Se hace énfasis en aquellos aspectos que permiten comprender mejor la naturaleza del régimen populista chavista tales como el militarismo que le distingue; su nacionalismo; su carácter participacionista; el contenido del socialismo del siglo XXI, entre otros.

    This article discusses the historical development of Hugo Chavez’s Bolivarian Revolution from its origins in the early 1980s until the death of the leader in March 2013. Emphasis is given to those aspects that allow a better understanding of the nature of the populist chavista regime such as militarism that distinguishes it; its nationalism; its participatory character; the content of the 21st century socialism, among others.
