  El intenso crecimiento del urbanismo disperso durante las últimas décadas en las áreas urbanas españolas ha dado pie a numerosas reflexiones sobre su papel en las mismas, tanto en lo que se refiere a las relaciones entre los centros urbanos y sus periferias como al cuestionamiento de su sostenibilidad ambiental y social. Esta comunicación presenta los retos a los que se enfrentan los municipios que han experimentado un fuerte crecimiento de las personas que viven en urbanizaciones, ilustra algunas de las actuaciones puestas en marcha para gestionar las nuevas situaciones generadas por este hecho y, finalmente, lleva a cabo una primera evaluación de la situación de los residentes en disperso tras el impacto de la crisis. El punto de partida contextualiza las particularidades de las urbanizaciones y de sus habitantes, así como de los problemas existentes en los municipios donde su incremento reciente ha sido capaz de modificar las dinámicas locales. En segundo lugar, se analizan algunos ejemplos de iniciativas municipales para reforzar la cohesión social, evitar la degradación de estos espacios y convertirlos en barrios integrados a la dinámica del municipio al que pertenecen administrativamente. La fuente utilizada en este caso son las entrevistas en profundidad llevadas a cabo a técnicos de municipios con fuerte presencia de urbanismo disperso. Este análisis pone en evidencia el esfuerzo por adaptar las medidas a una realidad cambiante no sólo por el propio aumento de residentes, sino también por la irrupción de la crisis. Y, finalmente, se reflexiona sobre la efectividad de las medidas tomadas a partir de los datos obtenidos de dos encuestas de realización propia efectuadas en 2005 y 2017 a personas residentes en urbanizaciones. Estas encuestas ponen en evidencia una valoración muy positiva de los encuestados sobre su vivienda, su urbanización y la gestión municipal, con resultados que incluso mejoran en 2017.

  The intense growth of urban Sprawl during the last decades in the Spanish urban areas has given rise to many debates on their role, as much as it relates to the relations between the urban cores and their peripheries as to the questioning of their sustainability Environmental and Social. This paper presents the challenges faced by municipalities that have experienced a strong growth of people living in disperse areas, illustrates some of the actions put in place to manage the new situations generated by this fact and, finally, carries out a first assessment of the situation of residents dispersed after the impact of the crisis. The starting point contextualizes the particularities of the urbanizations and their inhabitants, as well as the problems existing in the municipalities where their recent increase has been able to modify the local dynamics. In the second place, some examples of municipal initiatives are analyzed to reinforce social cohesion, to avoid the degradation of these spaces and to turn them into neighborhoods integrated to the dynamics of the municipality to which they belong administratively. The sources used are the in‐depth interviews carried out with technicians from municipalities with a strong presence of dispersed urbanism. This analysis shows the effort to adapt the measures to a changing reality not only by the increase of residents themselves, but also by the eruption of the crisis. And, finally, the effectiveness of the measures taken from the data obtained from two surveys carried out in 2005 and 2017 for people living in disperse areas is considered. These surveys show a very positive evaluation of the respondents about their housing, urbanization and municipal management, with results that even improve in 2017.
